A History in Modal Acoustic Emission (MAE)
Digital Wave Corporation, formed in 1992 by president Dr. Michael Gorman, focused on designing acoustic emission equipment; specifically, it was a result of his research involving the relationship between source, material and the wave modes excited in typical engineered structures. (Modal acoustic emission is much like seismology, where the wave modes produced by earthquakes are used to infer the type of source). These advancements have put Digital Wave at the forefront of the acoustic emission industry. Primary MAE focus in recent times has been in the metallic and composite pressure vessel industries.
Development of Ultrasonic Examination (UE) Technology
Alongside the advanced MAE equipment and testing methods, the company has expanded its technology to include designing and manufacturing ultrasonic DOT high-pressure gas cylinder testing equipment. Our UE cylinder testing systems are among the most capable in the market for re-qualifying cylinders. The non-contact nature of Digital Wave's immersion and "squirter" designs allow for more efficient and persistent calibration, providing a more reliable productivity. Of particulare importance, we design our cylinder requalification machines to test all cylinders from the small M6’s up to the large steel T/K size cylinders. Digital Wave is now the premier provider of UE machines in the USA.
Digital Wave Corporation
Digital Wave Corporation is located outside of Denver, Colorado, USA. With applications worldwide, Digital Wave and its partners serve government and private clients in the compressed gas, pressure vessel and cylinder industries. Our MAE services and equipment have attracted global customers. Our UE machines are also used by major cylinder retesting facilities globally. Digital Wave’s PhD’s, engineers, software programmers, field techs and manufacturing staff are ranked with the best in the industry.
