Digital Wave has put the service back in service testing. Our acoustic emission analysis experience results in concise, informative reports that are easty to understand - real science, real inspection. The only company to incorporate API 322 recommendations into its tank bottom testing software (see below), Digital Wave has located leaks to within 6 inches in a 200-foot diameter tank.

Digital Wave's modal acoustic emission technique provides unprecedented source identification, noise rejection, and source location in both multi-layer and single-layer pressure vessel testing.

Pressure Vessel Testing
Digital Wave is the only company that has correlated acoustic emission data with actual flaws, prior to the flaws becoming critical.

Digital Wave's application of theoretical wave propagation calculations in their analysis has resulted in an unrivaled ability to separate extraneous noise from flaw-growth, as well as unparalleled accuracy in detecting source location. This results in the most accurate data in the industry, documented fewer false calls, and less follow-up inspection, thereby significantly reducing your costs.

Please call us for references or to obtain a quote. Our staff will ask for the following information:
  • number of vessels
  • vessel type and size
  • vessel material
  • single or multi-layer construction
  • wall thickness
  • operating pressure and design pressure
  • nozzle, weld, and support structure locations
  • test site distance from vessels
Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Testing
Digital Wave performs aboveground storage tank (AST) leak detection using non-invasive procedures based on passive acoustic measurements (API 322) which have been field-proven to find leaks. A SONAR beamforming algorithm maps the sound intensity across the floor of the tank from each event. Noise from condensation, floating roof supports, wind blown particles or rain are eliminated due to their non-coherent nature, while coherent leak signals will be displayed much like on a radar screen, ocurring over and over at the same position. Peak sound intensities are then plotted as a function of tank bottom location to identify leak sources. If your leak is actively making noise, we will detect and locate the leak to within 1% of the tank diameter. The results of the examination are presented in a clear, easy to read map showing the locations of any leaks. Contact us for more details and for references.
