WaveExplorer™
WaveExplorer™
is a full acoustic emission
system consisting of sensors, preamplifiers, a signal conditioning
unit,
and a data acquisition and analysis system. The systems can be
configured
for 4 to 96 channels. Components include:
- Ruggedized
aluminum lunchbox computer or rack mount computer with Intel based
processor
- Piezoelectric
sensors
- PA0 or
PA20 preamplifiers
- FM1 or
FMT signal conditioning
- WaveExplorer™
Windows-based software
- All required cabling
FM1 Signal
Conditioning
The
FM1 signal conditioning unit has a wide range of settings for either
laboratory or field use. It consists of a controller unit that adjusts
the gain and filter settings for up to 8 individual signal conditioning
cards. Each signal conditioning card has a trigger enable/disable
switch. The FM1 uses Digital Wave's unique dual trigger path
electronics that allow significant noise reduction while still allowing
the user to perform modal analysis on the signals. Enclosures are
available in both half-width (4-8 channels) and full-width (9-16
channels) rackmount enclosures.
FM1 system specifications:
Bandwidth: 20 kHz - 5 MHz
Non-distorting linear phase Bessel filters
LED power and trigger indicators
Preamplifier gain: 0 - 42 dB, in 6 dB increments
Acquisition Signal Conditioning
Gain: 0, 12 and 24 dB settings
Highpass filters: Adjustable, 20, 50 and 100 kHz settings
Trigger Signal Conditioning
Preamplifer gain: 0-42 dB, in 6 dB increments
Highpass filters: Adjustable, 50, 100, 300, kHz settings
Lowpass filters: Adjustable, 750, 1500 and 5000 kHz settings
FMT Signal Conditioning
The FMT signal conditioning unit is a
purpose-built unit with a fixed 68 dB threshold. This unit is built for
tube trailer testing per ASTM 1419, or other pressure vessel testing
using ASTM 1419 specifications. It has four channels per card and up
to 48 channels per 19-inch rack mount enclosure. This system also uses
the dual path trigger for noise reduction.
FMT system specifications:
Bandwidth: 20 kHz - 600 kHz
6 Pole Chebychev filters
LED power and trigger indicators
Acquisition Signal Conditioning
Gain: 68 dB
Highpass filter: 20 kHz
Lowpass filter: 600 kHz
Trigger Signal Conditioning
Gain: 68 dB
Highpass filter: 100 kHz
Lowpass filter: 600 kHz
Trigger threshold adjustment (jumper selectable): 0, 3 and 6 dB
